Hello! I’m Joanna, the person behind carets + locators: carets for editing, and locators for indexing. From June 2015 to June 2017 I coordinated Editors Kitchener-Waterloo-Guelph, which is a twig of Editors Canada, our national association. To maintain Editors KWG I organized monthly meetings, arranged speakers, looked after our twig's finances, completed quarterly reports, teleconferenced with other coordinators and regional directors, and found venues between the three cities. I have a BA in English Literature, and I am a certified instructor for teaching both English as a Second Language (TESL) and English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). In 2014 I completed a postgraduate certificate in Publishing at Ryerson University. Prior to that I was a registered dental hygienist (RDH) for eight years. During my time as an RDH I worked in various capacities, which included private practice, a rehabilitative centre, dental sales, staff training, and public health. I keep busy and learning, always with care and a smile. I’m knowledgeable in many things—much of my spare time is spent learning—but I specialize in editing and indexing three subjects: dentistry, gardening, and culinary arts. Let me help your writing communicate better. My simple mission is to bring refinement and clarity to writers and readers.
